Jordan groups

The notion of an abstract Jordan group, introduced in 2010, was inspired by the classical theorem of Jordan 1878 and Serre’s theorem of 2008. It proved to be fruitful in the context of classical studies of finite subgroups of automorphism groups of various geometric objects, introducing into these studies a new “social” aspect that concerns quality properties of all such subgroups simultaneously. Recent years have been marked by significant activity in this direction.
