Geodesic in the upper half-plane and distribution of quadratic irrationalities

Once nontrivial estimates of Fourier coefficients of modular forms of half-integer weight have been recently obtained it was widely believed that the problem of distribution of quadratic irretiopnalities was satisfactory solved. The lecture is intended to show that this opinion is erroneous.
