Abstract:
The community of physicists started intensively learning topology in the 1970s. Several important applications of topological ideas were found. Later, the community of quantum physicists contributed to the development of topology proper. How can one use topology to solve problems of real physics? Are there many topological phenomena in the physics of the real world? The report describes work of the author and his students on such questions.
