Approximation of functions by classical polynomials on manifolds

Necessary and sufficient conditions were obtained for the approximation on manifolds by algebraic polynomials of functions of classes important in analysis. Effective methods for constructing such approximations were proposed. This generalizes the classical theory of approximation of periodic functions with preservation of the effectiveness level.
