Nonrationality of cubic threefolds

In this talk we will discuss the short proof of the classical result on nonrationality of the generic cubic threefold. To do so, we examine degenerations of some dicing of the intermediate Jacobian. The talk is based on the paper http://arxiv.org/abs/math/0204041.
