Approximation of Continuous Distributions by a Mixture of Erlang Distributions

Abstract:
The article considers the problem in which a single-channel system services flows for which the intervals between demands are mutually independent and identically distributed with arbitrary density function. The problem is solved by approximating an arbitrary distribution by a mixture of Erlang distributions.
