Abstract:
This paper presents a review of publications on the use of electrically exploded foil opening switches to form current pulses up to 100 MA (up to 45 MA in experiments) with a rise time of 0.1 – 10.0 $\mu$s. Physical schemes and models are considered, and the efficiency of foil opening switches for existing and advanced facilities is analyzed.
Keywords:
explosive magnetic generator, electrically exploded foil opening switch, magnetohydrodynamic simulation.
