Two-phase flows of incompressible condensed media and gas

V. I. Nalimov

Lavrent’ev Institute of Hydrodynamics, Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk 630090
Abstract: A model of weakly compressible media based on the assumption of small volume concentration of gas is developed for the description of flows of powder mixtures. A strong shock-wave approximation is used to describe the dynamics of strong discontinuities. Various approximate formulations of the problem are deduced from a variational principle by restricting the class of function within which a critical point of the action functional is sought.
