Abstract:
Evolution of the flow field around a circular cylinder and a sphere instantaneously starting with a constant supersonic velocity ($\mathrm{M}_\infty=5$ and $\mathrm{Re}=10^5$) from the state at rest is studied by means of numerical integration of unsteady two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations.
