Abstract:
We propose using competitive reactions for studying the efficiency of volatile organic compound (VOC) removal from air under the action of pulsed discharge plasma. By introducing a VOC with known parameters into the model vapor mixture, it is possible to determine analogous properties of other compounds using a chromatographic method not possessing high temporal resolution. By the example of a mixture of styrene and methylmethacrylate vapors, it is shown that the relative reactivity of unsaturated compounds in discharge plasma is well correlated with the ratio of their rate constants of reaction with ozone.
