Abstract:
Spectral and temporal luminescence characteristics of gas mixtures (Ar + CCl4), excited by a pulsed high-energy electron beam (Ee = 220keV, Te = 5ns), have been investigated. It is found that Ar2Cl∗ excimer molecules , emitting wide continuum (42Γ−12Γ) at 245 nm, are formed in dense gas mixtures. Radiative deexcitation times and continuum quenching constants
(λmax = 245 nm) by the gas mixture components (Ar and CCl4) are measured. A plasma chemical model of formation of Ar2Cl∗ excimer molecules in Ar + CCl4 dense gas mixtures under pumping by charged high-energy particles is proposed.
