Abstract:
Spectral and temporal luminescence characteristics of gas mixtures (Ar + CCl$_{4}$), excited by a pulsed high-energy electron beam ($E_e$ = 220keV, $T_e$ = 5ns), have been investigated. It is found that Ar$_{2}$Cl$^{*}$ excimer molecules , emitting wide continuum $(4^2\Gamma-1^2\Gamma)$ at 245 nm, are formed in dense gas mixtures. Radiative deexcitation times and continuum quenching constants
($\lambda_{\operatorname{max}}$ = 245 nm) by the gas mixture components (Ar and CCl$_4$) are measured. A plasma chemical model of formation of Ar$_{2}$Cl$^{*}$ excimer molecules in Ar + CCl$_{4}$ dense gas mixtures under pumping by charged high-energy particles is proposed.
