Abstract:
Experimental method is described and results of measurement of the cadmium vapor concentration in a nuclear pumped He–Cd laser on the cadmium ion transition with wave length 0.441 $\mu$m are presented . It is shown that observed concentration is about ten times less then saturated one for given temperature of laser cuvette. On the base of obtained data the conclusion is made that life time of the upper level for CdII 5s$^{2}$ $^{2}D_{5/2}$–5$p^{2}P_{3/2}$ transition in a optimum condition of He–Cd laser operation equals about 0.5 $\mu$s.
