Ñollisions of ground state lithium atoms. Spin-exchange complex cross sections
V. A. Kartoshkin Ioffe Institute, St. Petersburg
Abstract:
The paper considers the interaction of two polarized lithium atoms ($^{7}$Li). In the collision of such atoms, along with elastic scattering, a spin exchange process takes place, i.e. there is an exchange of electronic polarization between the colliding atoms. Simultaneously with the transfer of polarization, the process of spin exchange leads to a shift of the frequency of the magnetic resonance of the colliding atoms. In this work, based on data on the interaction potentials between two lithium atoms, the energy dependences of the spin exchange cross sections and the shift of the magnetic resonance frequency were calculated for the first time.
