Description of Programs, in Lithuanian The Faculty employs more than 100 people of staff (professors, associate and assistant professors). They are grouped into 8 departments (click Departments). Main groups of courses covered: algebra and geometry; computer architecture and operating systems; cryptography, compression, information theory; data structures, algorithms, complexity, related theories; databases and related theories; differential equations and modelling; discrete mathematics, combinatorics; mathematical analysis and function theory; networking; probability theory and mathematical statistics; programming languages and related theories; software engineering Research in the Faculty by topics: Analysis and solution of partial differential equations; Analysis, design and implementation of software systems; software process; Analysis of distributions in functional spaces and their application in statistics; History of mathematics in Lithuania; Imitational models and computational statistics; Mathematics of finance and insurance; Nonlinear and geometric modelling, image and signal processing; Problems of probability number theory; Statistical distributions and their applications; Statistical analysis in reliability and conservation theory, applications International contacts: Socrates/Erasmus programs with universities from Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Germany, France, Greece; participation in various academic research and education projects, like NORFA networks, EUREKA, Humboldt and Fulbright foundations, etc.
