Kyrgyz-Uzbek University (KUU) was founded in 1997, March 31, by the decree of Kyrgyz Republic's President A. Akaev.
KUU is the educational, scientific and cultural centre, which trains high skilled specialists for the sphere of education, science, industry, jurisprudence, management and business. The University has its own charter, flag, emblem and hymn. Three hundred and eighty teachers work at thirty-seven chairs and there are 13 doctors of science, 16 professors, 30 candidates of science, 21 docents, 2 Academicians of the National Academy of Science of Kyrgyz republic, 4 Corresponding Members of Engineering Academy of Kyrgyz Republic, 1 Academician of International Engineering Academy and New York Academy, 2 Honoured workers of Education, 15 Honours of Education among them.
