LENNIICHIMMASH Ltd and its trademark in the form of joined capital letters "X" and "M" — the first letters of Russian words for Chemical Engineering — are well known in our country and abroad and guarantee a high level of equipment created for implementation of complex production processes in chemical, petrochemical, oil- and gas-refinery, oil, gas and other industries.

In 1931, Giproazotmash Institute was established in Leningrad to provide chemical industry with equipment and, thereby, to strengthen the defence capacity of the country. In those years, the work was focused on creation of equipment operating under high pressures and at low temperatures, which paved the way to mastering low-temperature engineering in our country.

In 1946, an affiliate of NIIсhimmach was organized on the basis of Giproazotmash, and in 1965 it was transformed in an independent organization — LenNIIсhimmash, which favoured fast development of the institute, its quantitative and qualitative growth. The distinct specialization was defined, namely, reactors and polymerizers, low-temperature gas-separation and gas-mix purification facilities, apparatus with mixing devices, furnaces for chemical production, large piston compressors and installations.

In 1993, in conditions of a radical change in the principles of industry management, the institute was transformed into an public joint-stock company LENNIIСHIMMASH. Readjustment of work organization took place, which aimed at development of management personnel initiative and search for ways to realize the potential gained during previous years.

In 1997 LENNIICHIMMASH Co established several subsidiaries including NIICHIMMASH limited liability company, where, from the very outset, activities in complete process equipment development and supply were concentrated.

In February 2002, LENNIICHIMMASH Co transferred to NIICHIMMASH Ltd the exclusive right for conducting the following activities: designing, industrial safety appraisal, repair, supply of complete process facilities and equipment for chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas industries, facilities subject to boiler code. Transferred to NIICHIMMASH Ltd were also the scientific and technical base, archives, laboratory and test bench facilities, computer software and hardware, and the entire research, engineering and managerial staff. Thus, NIICHIMMASH Ltd became the successor of LENNIICHIMMASH Co, an independent juridical entity.

At present, LENNIICHIMMASH Ltd is situated on Vasilyevsky Island that concentrates scientific, industrial and cultural potential of St. Petersburg, not far from the Harbour — the sea gate of our city, at the picturesque place where the Malaya Neva joins the Gulf of Finland.
