Research Institute of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics was founded in 1971 by Joseph Vorovich.
Research areas, developed in institute:
solid body mechanic,
mathematical problems of solid media mechanic,
mathematical modeling in the natural resources management problems.
Together with a fundamental researches institute develop applied research areas of:
new type of gears,
reduction gears for mills,
thin-walled experimental investigation (preventive membranes), which are widely used in a number of industries.
The institute mathematical ecology investigations are used to evaluate Azov Sea natural resources. The waste products effective recycle technologies design and implementations are developed. The foundation's design and optimization for structural-stable soils are developed.
In 2002 Rostov State University Research Institute of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics was officially named after academician Joseph Vorovich.
There are 9 Research Departments, 5 Research Labs, 146 workers , including 85 — research scientists, including 4 professors and 85 Ph.D. Source: https://www.math.rsu.ru/niimpm/niimpm.ru.html
