Abstract:
The results of the numerical calculations of the generation of the acoustic radiation resulting from the contact of the tread design with the road surface are presented, this radiation being one of possible mechanisms of the automobile transport noise. The grooves of the tread pattern are simulated by three-dimensional rectangular cavities, while the process of their squeezing and expansion is modeled by the motion of the cavity walls in accordance with a given law. The acoustic disturbances thus produced are studied on the basis of the complete, non-simplified nonlinear Euler equations using the numerical Godunov method. The results are presented in the form of time-dependent acoustic fields generated by the source under consideration.
