Dynamical compartment models of the carbon cycle in a transitional bog ecosystem

A. M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Amethod for constructing dynamical systems by a given storage-flow diagrams, that was suggested and analysed in [1,2], is applied to the carbon cycle in a typical transitional bog ecosystem of middle – European Russia. We consider decomposable compartment models which are mathematically possible for this system and show them to yield biologically incorrect results. Selecting successively different variants of flow dependence on storage allows one to establish the combination suggested in [2]. Stability of the given equilibrium, existence of other nontrivial equilibria and their local dynamics are studied
