The convective flows in a melt under the rotation of an outside thermal field
V. N. Popov, A. E. Kokh, P. V. Mokrushnikov Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract:
This work presents a numerical study of the flows, which appear in melt of Ge in response to its step-by-step heating with vertical heaters placed around a cylindrical crucible. The numerical simulation is based on the solution of three-dimension non-stationary Navier–Stokes and heat transfer equations with the Boussinesq approximation. The results of the investigation show that control of a thermal field allows to obtain hashing of a liquid in azimuthal direction.
