A model of a flow-type chemical reactor

A. V. Tygliyan, S. S. Filippov

M. V. Keldysh Institute for Applied Mathematics, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Our model takes into account nonequilibrium heterogeneous reactions on the surface of finely divided solid particles as well as reversible equlibrium reactions in gaseous phase. The used approximations (zone of burning, Schwab–Zel'dovich approximation) are discussed and justified. The stationary flow of the reacting mixture and the concentration and temperature fields are described by Navier–Stokes equations and mass- and heat transfer equations with turbulent kinetic coefficients. A stable finite-difference approximation of 1st order is developed for this system of equations, and an iterative algorithm for solving it numerically is elaborated in detail. Numerical results are presented.
