Test problems on shock compression of layered spherical systems

Abstract:
Now numerical simulation has become the main and often the only instrument for getting
a detailed description of some physical phenomena which accompany the shock compression of materials. The study of shock and rarefaction waves through simple model
tests helps understand their behavior in complicated laser simulations. The paper offers
test problems which simulate the shock compression of a layered spherical system of
several materials. They consider compression regimes where the maximal density in the
center is reached after the second or third shock passes.
Keywords:
layered system, shock wave.
