Abstract:
Monte Carlo model of the experiment for measuring the neutron lifetime by the method
of storing ultracold neutrons in a material trap is developed. The trajectory of each
neutron is calculated taking into account the gravity. In the model all stages of the
experiment are fully reproduced. To accumulate the necessary statistics, the calculations
were carried out on a computer cluster. As a result of the calculations, the calculated and
experimental dependence of the detector count on the time was found to coincide and the
systematic uncertainty associated with the method of calculating the effective collision
frequency of ultracold neutrons in a trap was determined. The modeling of all the details
of this experiment is extremely important to justify the accuracy achieved and to prove
the absence of systematic errors.
