Model size influence on its aerodynamyc coefficients in low speed wind tunnel
V. T. Bui, V. I. Lapygin Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow
Abstract:
A flow with/without model in the test section of low-speed wind tunnel is examined. The problem is solved for two-dimensional case with the help of ANSYS code. The mathematical model of the flow includes the Reynolds equations with SST-turbulence model. Calculation region consists of the fore-chamber, nozzle, test section, and diffuser. Computation is going with structured grids, a number of calculation meshes equals 110000. Since the boundary-value problems for a model in free stream and in wind tunnel flow are distinct, in general the flow parameters on the model surface and aerodynamic characteristics of the model are not the same for these two flows. Model size influence on its aerodynamic coefficients is illustrated by the example of the flow around of the NASA 0012 profile inside free flow and in test section of the low speed wind tunnel.
