Numerical simulation of the non-stationary flow in a vicinity of the hypersonic vehicle

Abstract:
The non-stationary flow along the forebody of a hypersonic vehicle is studied using a numerical simulation based on Quasi-Gas Dynamic equations. The frequency spectrum of oscillations occurring during the laminar-turbulent transition is analysed. The main frequencies of computed oscillations correspond to data obtained by a linear stability analysis of the given flow. The 3D computations were carried out on a massively parallel computer.
