Abstract: The effective thermal conductivity is introduced to describe heat transfer properties of modern building materials (ceramic bricks) with hollow spaces. The approach to compute this magnitude is discussed and it is shown that the effective thermal conductivity is appeared to be twice or more times smaller then the local thermal conductivity. The influence of some accessory factors is also considered.
