Abstract: The numerical method for calculation of heating, evaporation and movement of a disperse particle under the action of a short pulse of laser radiation, and also for calculation of expansion of a formed vapor cloud into vacuum is considered. The problem is solved in a self-consistent axially symmetric statement. Heating of a particle is described by the non-stationary heat equation which is solved by a finite-volume method simultaneously with the equation describing the variation of a shape of a particle. Vapor flow is calculated by the direct simulation Monte Carlo method. Some properties of numerical algorithm and peculiarities of evaporation of particles in conditions typical for technological applications of laser ablation are investigated.
