Calculation of radiation in gas around reentry vehicle

Abstract:
Numerical modeling problem of radiation transport around reentry vehicle is researched. The temperature in the shock layer is very high and the gas within the shock layer strongly radiates. Under these conditions radiation affects the flow field properties which in turn affect radiation properties. Numerical investigations of the problem are carried out using the model of diffusion approximation. The quasi gasdynamics equations were used to compute gas dynamic flows. The domain decomposition technique was applied for parallelization of the problem. Hybrid irregular grids are used for calculations. They include both rectangular and triangle cells. The results for bodies of different shapes are represented.
