Calculation of compression flows in a channel of plasma accelerator

G. A. Kalugin

Moscow Engineering Physics Institute
Abstract: Numerical calculation results of compression flows of ideal plasma in the channel of a coaxial accelerator obtained in terms of MHD-model through modern finite-difference methods of gas dynamics are presented. It is shown that principal features of such steady-state flows are heating of plasma on a conical shock wave and formation of the high density and temperature plasma region nearby the channel axis. In this case the acceleration properties of the given system do not practically change.
