Abstract:
The self-sustaining cyclic ion exchange process of water treatment has been investigated on the basis of mathematical modeling. The process does not involve any additional chemical reagents except for those contained in an initial solution. The model was verified by experimental data. The influence of complexation on the process efficiency was studied. The removal of several selected cations from aqueous solution was considered that provides purified water at the inlet to the desalter and cleaned up extracts removed separately from the system. The selection of the optimal process scheme was carried out. The case of the solution with low sodium/high calcium concentrations was tested. The process stability was checked.
