Shocked gas flow simulation via unstructured grids. Part 2

P. A. Voinovich, D. M. Sharov

Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: The method based on quasimonotone explicit high-accuracy scheme for shocked gas flow computations is developed by introducing transient local adaptation of the unstructured grid using refinement/coarsening technique The high efficiency of the technique allows to use it at each time step and reduces CPU requirements by more than an order of magnitude as compared to the structured grids providing the same accuracy. Diffraction of shock wave over a sharp convex corner is considered and compared with experimental data.
