Numerical simulation of the thermal decomposition of substances

H. Karabelli

Kocaeli University
Abstract: An applied software for numerical simulation of the process of the thermal decomposition of coal particles was developed. The process is described by a large system of parabolic partial differential equations. The model takes into account the processes of diffusional and convectional transfer of mass and energy in two phases medium as well as chemical reactions. The method of lines in conjunction with a code for stiff systems integration was applied.
