Motion and heat transfer of free non-spherical particle in the non-uniform flow

K. N. Volkov, V. N. Emelyanov

Baltic State Technical University
Abstract: Fluid dynamics and heat transfer processes during the non-stationary motion of free non-spherical particle in the non-uniform flow of viscous incompressible fluid are considered. The equations of particle motion and particle heat-mass transfer are solved together with the fluid dynamics equations describing non-stationary field of fluid flow perturbed by particle motion. The approach is constructed on the basis of solution of the problem on moving block grid structures. The model developed is used for numerical research of motion and heat-mass transfer of metal-oxide agglomerates consisting of metal droplet (aluminum) and particle of condensed oxide attached to it. The dependencies for drag and heat transfer coefficients of compound particle at the relative velocities corresponding to formation of non-stationary separated regions are obtained.
