Magnetohydrodynamic flows and electrodynamic fields in conical multi-pole MHD generators

U. G. Pirumov, K. L. Kovalev

Moscow Aviation Institute
Abstract: Usually the high power magnetohydrodynamic generators (MHDG) are designed according to a bipolar scheme. As a rule the energy conversion processes in such MHDG produce flow perturbations all over the whole channel that is undesirable for some applications. In this paper the conical MHDG are considered for MHD conversion both in the peripheral zone of the channel and in the center of the flow as well. Such MHDG carr be used as electric power sources for future aerospace applications.
