Mathematical models and computer experiment

Solution of Poisson equation on parallel computer

V. Ya. Karpov

Institute for Mathematical Modelling, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Organization of parallel computations on Parsytec computer is discussed. As an example we consider the solution of Poisson equation in two dimensional $(r,z)$ region. We use Fourier transform in zdirection and sweep (gauss elimination) method in $r$-direction. Sweep method with high coefficient of parallel performance for multi-processor computers with distributed memory is described.
