Mathematical models and computer experiment

Modelling ecological systems by a given “storage-flow” diagram

N. N. Zavalishin, D. O. Logofet

A. M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Properties are investigated of a class of ecosystem models to be constructed by “storage-flow” diagrams well-known in mathematical ecology. An algorithm to construct such dynamic models was proposed by Yu. M. Svirezhev. For the resulting systems of ordinary differential equations dissipativeness conditions, the invariance of nonnegative cone in the phase space, and the form of the Jacobi matrix in equilibrium are established. Examples are presented of numerical experiments with models of a particular wetland ecosystem.
