Crystal-forming processes in gel media

V. I. Rakin, I. V. Kodanev

Geology Institute of Komi Scientific Center, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Abstract: Various properties of processes of crystalogenesis in gel media have been investigated by numerical solution of a system of model partial equations, describing diffusion, chemical reaction, nuclcation and crystal growth. After introduction in the model of a metastable area of supersaturation for nucleation, formation of periodic structure (Liesegang bands) in gel became possible, frequently observable in nature. Some fractal properties of diffusion, reaction and nucleation are considered.
