Abstract:
A two-dimensional, nonlinear, nonhyarostatic numerical model of orographically induced
evolution of stratiform clouds is described. The model is incompressible, contains motion and
continuity equations, equations for equivalent potential temperature, humidity, liquid water
and uses fiction domain method. Navier–Stokes equations are solved with “vorticity, stream
function” variables and numerical integration go by finite-difference scheme with central
differences. The monotonic finite-difference scheme is used for convection – diffusion
equations. The utility of the model was demonstrated in example which lllustrats the flow ot
moist saturated air over isolated obstacle.
