Abstract:
The possibilities of mathematical modeling of turbulent separated flows in vicinity of the right forwardfaced steps were investigated at Mach numbers 2–5. All the computations were carried out under a condition of real physical experiments on the base of the full averaged Navier–Stokes equations closed by the two-equation Wilcox turbulence model. The computed results were compared with the experimental data on the static pressure and skin friction distribution along the step surface. The effect of the turbulence model parameter was investigated that controls the balance between generation and dissipation of the turbulent kinetic energy. The possible methods to control the separation were proposed with the help of the temperature factor and the inlet turbulence level.
