Abstract: The solid-state reaction of CaHPO4 with CaCO3 in a ratio > 2: 1 at 1350°C led to the formation of α-tricalcium phosphate, the subsequent sintering of which at 850°C gave a homogeneous phase of β-tricalcium phosphate, which does not contain crystalline impurities.
Keywords: α-tricalcium phosphate, β-tricalcium phosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, solid-state synthesis, X-ray diffraction.
