Abstract: The influence of the exothermic catalytic reaction of oxidation of carbon monoxide upon the mechanical strength and porosity of iron and nickel catalysts has been analysed and it has been shown that in the course of this reaction a decrease in the sintering temperature occurs which results in a 4–6-fold increase in the strength of the catalysts (at a given porosity) compared with that of control samples.
