Abstract: An optically inactive cis-transoidal poly[(4-carboxyphenyl)acetylene] was found to form a predominantly one-handed helical conformation upon complexation with optically active amines and amino alcohols in the solid state, resulting in a characteristic induced circular dichroism in the polymer backbone region.
