Abstract: Chloromethylation of p-toluic acid affords 3,5-bis(chloro- methyl)-4-methylbenzoic acid whose subsequent treatment with arenethiols brings about spacer dendrimeric blocks containing polyfluoroarylsulfanyl fragments in a total yield of 60-75%.
