Vortex motion of laser plasma

Abstract:
The observation of toroidal plasma vortices formed when the radiation of a repetitively pulsed CO$_2$ laser was applied to a pyrographite target in a helium atmosphere are reported. The results of numerical calculations of the experimental model corresponding to the experiment are presented. The lifetime of the toroidal rings is shown to be more than 100 $\mu$s.
