Electrodynamics of circular dichroism and its application in the construction of a circular polaroid

Abstract: Electrodynamic principles of circular dichroism are developed using a concept of conducting circular structures in matter. A simplified representation of material equations for an optically active medium is obtained in the absence of a transition to the complex domain. A dependence of the absorption coefficient of a circular polarization as a component of the linearly polarized radiation on material parameters is found. Such parameters are analyzed to reveal a possibility of construction of a circular polaroid.
