Influence of a pulsed current on the Portevin–Le Chatelier effect in AlMg5 aluminum–magnesium alloy

Abstract:
We have reported on the results of experiments on the influence of current pulses on the band formation and intermittent deformation of AlMg5 alloy. It has been established that, to suppress the nucleation of deformation bands, preliminary treatment of the alloy by a current of density 60 A/mm$^2$ for at least 1 s is required.
