Abstract: The products of the erosion of a hollow copper electrode of an ac plasmatron operating in air have been examined. It has been shown using elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, X-ray phase analysis, and differential thermal analysis that the main components of the erosion products are copper trihydroxide nitrate (II), copper oxide (II), copper oxide (I), and copper hydroxide carbonate (II).
