Abstract:
This paper reports a case study in the field of thermometry on living organisms conducted at the Institute of the Physico-Technical Problems of the North, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Center for Studies of Cold-Related Injuries at the Yakutia Scientific Center. The case describes an experiment on temperature measurement in extreme swimmers during a swim in the Bering Strait and the resulting findings, demonstrating an extreme overcooling of the swimmers during the swim. Additionally, outcomes of experimental trials inducing a state of deep hypothermia in dogs are presented with a continuous record of the body temperature and clinical parameters.
Keywords:
