Abstract:
Experimental studies of carbon thin films obtained by condensation of carbon from the vapor–gas phase on to a metal substrate are presented. Evaporation of graphite targets is carried out by defocused laser radiation. Using transmission electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and Raman spectra, it is shown that the structure of the carbon film consists of large nonconducting diamond fragments with $sp^{3}$-bonds, along the boundaries of which current regions with $sp^{2}$-bonds are localized.
