Abstract:
Third-order elastic moduli of polystyrene samples fabricated by different technologies (two samples of styrene copolymer with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate in different concentrations and two laboratory samples fabricated by melt technology at different temperature regimes) have been measured by the ultrasonic method. The dependences of nonlinear elastic moduli on the ultrasonic wave frequency in the range of 1–3 MHz were shown to differ significantly between the styrene copolymer samples and the laboratory samples. The elastic moduli of the laboratory samples obtained using the same technology but at different temperature regimes were also noticeably different. Therefore, the fabrication technology can substantially affect the nonlinear elastic properties of polymer materials.
